2012-2013 |
FTC Ring It Up! & FRC Ultimate Ascent.
|
Team Captains: Thomas Brown & Minhaz Rashid
This season's games were Ring It Up for FTC and Ultimate Ascent for FRC. In Ring It Up, robots were tasked with hanging plastic rings on pegs and then lifting other robots for bonus points during end-game. In Ultimate Ascent, the goal of the game was to launch frisbees into goals on the opposite ends of the field and climb pyramids at the end of the match for bonus points.
The 2012-2013 season was a rigorous and long season full of many trials and tough spots, but the team persevered through each struggle and overall, more progress towards excellence was made than in comparison to any other season thus far. Many veteran members stayed from the preceding year and although only a handful of rookies joined, the team began to lay a safe foundation for its future.
The FTC season was productive and well-rewarded. At the FTC Qualifier at STLCC-Florissant Valley, the team received the Think Award for excellent documentation in its engineering notebook. At the FTC Qualifier at SEMO, the team competed in the Winning Alliance in the Red Division, and then proceeded to play in the final rounds before being eliminated.
The FRC season was highly successful. For the first time in its six-year history at this point, the team placed in the Winning Alliance at the St. Louis Regional alongside alliance partners 1208 and 3284. Having qualified for the FIRST World Championship for the first time for FRC, the team competed in the Archimedes Division and placed 52nd out of 102 with a 4-4 ratio of wins to losses.
The 2012-2013 season was definitely one of the longest, but the most rewarding thus far. The team began to truly achieve growth--not necessarily in numbers, but in experience and progress--and as always, the team became excited to make changes to take things to the next level for the next season.
