FTC Get Over It! & FRC Logomotion.
|
Team Captain: Alexander Hoeft
Went on after graduation to study engineering & computer science at Missouri University of Science & Technology.
FTC's Get Over It involved crossing rigorous terrain and scoring batons in movable goals as well as balancing on bridges, and FRC's Logomotion involved hanging inner tubes shaped as elements of the FIRST logo onto 10 foot high racks; Minibots are deployed at the end. 2408 placed moderately well in the two FTC qualifier events this season, and at the FRC St. Louis Regional, were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
The season boasted an enormous improvement and step forward for the Shrapnel Sergeants. For one, they were growing--at the end of the year, 2408 was now eleven members, compared to average six to seven in the past.
2408 gained the most awards in a single year than any year before--the FTC Think Award for having an extensive engineering notebook (it spanned three volumes), the FTC Inspire Award (state level) for being a role model team, and the FRC Gracious Professionalism Award for being serious helpers (2408 lent out so many supplies that their nickname was 'Home Depot' and their lead programmer helped other teams for several hours with programming).
2408 attended the World Championship for FTC for the second year in a row. This time, the championship was right at home--St. Louis! The Shrapnel Sergeants faced technical issues and placed poorly at the World Championship, but when all is said and done, this season cannot be forgotten as so many strives toward excellence were made.
The team volunteered to participate in a robotics demonstration at Wedgwood Elementary School, demoed the FIRST Tech Challenge at the Gateway to Innovation Conference, and demoed the FIRST Tech Challenge at Boeing's Engineering Week event.
