2009-2010 |
FTC Hot Shot! & FRC Breakaway.
|
Team Captain: William Iwasko
Went on after graduation to study meteorology at Saint Louis University.
This season's games were FTC's Hot Shot, a game centered on shooting wiffleballs, and FRC's Breakaway, speedy robot soccer. 2408 won two qualifiers with FTC and was eliminated in the FRC St. Louis Regional.
The 2009-2010 season was a massive step up for the Shrapnel Sergeants--the well tuned robot won winning alliance in two Missouri Qualifiers and earned them a spot in the World Championship, where they traveled to Atlanta, Georgia and placed 27th out of 50 teams. This was the team's first year at the World Championship.
FRC, however, did not pass by so well--due to engineering flaws, Reccostobor faced big chain-belt problems as severe as to having mangled chains becoming destroyed on-field. Interestingly, there are very few records of photographic documentation of this season's FRC robot.
In the summer, 2408's students volunteered at a local middle school where they taught middle schoolers at the summer school program how to build and program VEX robots that launched model rockets outdoors. 2408 also volunteered at the school's Special Olympics.
In short, the 2009-10 season was a big improvement for 2408, gaining newfound recognition and attending the World Championship for the first time.
